What is Empathic Leadership?
“It is about having the ability to relate to and connect with people for the purpose of inspiring and empowering their lives.”
What skills or competencies did you enhance through the coaching process?
“I spent a lot of time working on different communication styles, self-management, making quick decisions, tackling tough conversations, and developing affective skills (managing state of mind).”
Share an example of a goal that you have realized as a result of coaching.
“As a direct result of coaching I am able to be more direct with my team and colleagues, and not internalize problems without expressing them. I handle issues when they arise, and no longer stew over them for weeks or months allowing the problems to compound. This has made me a more effective leader, business owner, and worker.”
What do professionals need to start anticipating as the change needed to be a strong leader?
“I think that the push toward empathy is obvious to those of us paying attention. Both the shifts brought about by the pandemic and the demands of the younger working generation coming into their own are going to present seismic shifts in business towards an empathic model. Businesses and business owners that recognize this now, and work on developing those empathy muscles will be much better positioned in the years ahead.”
Describe Michael Sgro as a professional coach.
“Words alone cannot describe my experience with Michael Sgro. I entered the coaching experience thinking I could develop a few skills and tricks to help make me a more effective leader. Little did I know that the over the course of my time with Michael, I would be exposed to an entire new lexicon of communication style which would expand my outlook on relationship management, self-management and communication in general. Michael changes my relationship with myself, my business, my employees, and everyone in my personal life. I am now able to quickly recognize the communication styles and preferences of people I interact with, which makes navigating interpersonal relationships monumentally easier and more pleasant. I cannot recommend Michael Sgro highly enough to anyone looking to improve in their professional development and human development.”
Anything else you want to share about leadership?
“Michael Sgro changed my perception of not only what it takes to be a leader, but also who the real leaders are in our community. My only regret is not being exposed to this earlier in my career. Michael Sgro helped me realize the type of leader I want to be, and the things I need to go through to fully articulate that leadership style.”
